Mentor signs up the first Mobile Plant Apprentice in the Mineral Processing industry

Mentor is delighted to announce that the level 2 mobile and static plant apprenticeship programmes are now underway after the first apprentice was signed up in October this year.

Working closely with industry specific employers and specialist training companies, Mentor have been able to strategically tailor and offer a range of engaging and flexible programmes that meet the new Level 2 Mineral Processing Mobile and Static Plant Operator standard to those operating within the extractives industry.

Lead training provider Mentor, have worked with the team at Hills Quarry Products Ltd to sign up the first level 2 apprentice, Aidan Jeffreys, based at Hills’ Shorncote Quarry near Cirencester.

Aidan will complete a valuable range of external training courses delivered primarily by Mentor, along with industry specialist training providers with whom they have partnered including Rob Shore of Safety Coaching, MRS training, Ifast Fire and Safety Training and Serac UK, which will ensure that Aidan receives a quality learner experience.

During his time as an apprentice, Aidan will spend the majority of his time onsite supported by his mentors, receiving specific, practical training. He will follow a structured apprenticeship programme and training plan that Mentor have constructed in line with the apprenticeship standard whilst meeting the needs of Hills’ operation and expectations.

Tracy Colton, Head of Apprenticeships said: ‘I was thrilled to induct Aidan on to our apprenticeship programme and I will be meeting with him throughout his apprenticeship to review his progress and provide him with continuous support’.

Tracy continued: ‘We are confident that our programmes fit the needs of the employers and are committed to adapting them to ensure the apprentices receive training that is fit for purpose’.

Aidan will receive a range of mandatory training including both theoretical and practical units required to achieve the standards with additional training options available.
On completion of his apprenticeship, Aidan will hold an NVQ relevant to the pathway that he undertakes in addition to the level 2 qualification itself.

Mentor are keen to continue working with employers and their learners and believe that Aidan will prove to be a positive role model to those who are looking to start an apprenticeship.
